What I am concerned about is poor communication. But at least they did get it in writing – I was completely blindsided! I note one of the correspondents has appropriately criticised the very vague wording of the written notification. The later thread that you sent may be closer to the mark, although it only speaks of "debris" rather than crystallisation. ![]() The first thread you sent involved people getting error messages about coolant level, which was entirely unrelated to my issue: I had NO error message at all, and as far as I was concerned there was NO problem with battery coolant! Has anyone on this forum heard about this bizarre unofficial "Recall" situation, apparently not officially declared? Their reply so far has been unhelpful, simply asking me my car's registration. Two days ago I wrote a formal inquiry to Kia New Zealand. This sounds like doubletalk, and I would have thought the problem had to be the formulation of the coolant fluid, bearing in mind the diverse climates to which the Kia e-Niro has been operating, from Scandinavia to equatorial regions. He also implied that the new problem seemed localised to New Zealand because of " different climatic conditions". When I spoke later with their Service Manager, he assured me that this earlier leak problem was not related to the present crystallisation issue. Subsequent Googling has not revealed anything of the sort, other than the sidetrack of a Recall affecting some 2020 model "Kia Niro EV" because of an unrelated coolant leakage that was likely to cause the EPCU to malfunction. I seemed to have no choice but to proceed with that, but expressed surprise I had not received any official notification of this Product Recall. ![]() ![]() They claimed that there was a problem with the coolant fluid crystallising, posing the risk of a blockage and my system needed to be flushed & refilled (which would take 3 hours). On taking my 2022 Kia e-Niro in for investigation of an air-conditioning issue, the dealer surprised me by saying that my car also needed a Product Recall issue addressed.
